Welcome to Izzy's Guide to the Pink City! As an integral part of our team at Chloe Jonason Interiors, our talented Project Manager Izzy, has been sourcing vintage textiles in Jaipur, also known as the Pink City. We feel so lucky to have her as part of the CJI family and we wanted to share her story with you as it is now very much part of our story. Not only does Izzy bring a wealth of experience from her background in the soft furnishings industry but what makes her journey even more special is her roots in India. Originally from Mumbai and now based in Lincolnshire, she joined CJI in May 2024, blending her lifelong passion for textiles and interior design into her role. Beyond her work with us, Izzy is the founder of Haveli Diaries, a block-printed homeware and lifestyle brand that celebrates craftsmanship and heritage textiles.
Your Local Guide in the Pink City: Jaipur
As someone with deep roots in both India and England, my connection to Jaipur runs through both my heritage and my heart. I visit this incredible city regularly as part of running my block-printed homeware and lifestyle brand, Haveli Diaries. Jaipur is more than just the backdrop to my work - it’s the soul of my creative process. Let me take you through the city as I know it, from its regal beauty to its vibrant artisan community.
STAY: A Heritage Haven
To truly experience Jaipur’s charm, there’s no better way than staying at a Haveli. My personal favourites are The Johri, Samode Haveli and Narain Niwas Palace Hotel, where history merges with modern comfort. The architecture alone is inspiring, with intricate frescoes and courtyards steeped in stories. These spaces allow me to step back in time and dream up designs that reflect Jaipur’s grandeur.
EAT: Culinary Adventures in Every Bite
Rajasthani food is as rich and layered as its culture. Being in Jaipur calls for a Thali for 1135 AD at Amber Fort - every dish tells a story of spice, heritage, and flavour. I often unwind after a busy day of shopping at Bar Palladio. Its striking blue interiors mirror the city’s artistic legacy and provide a serene escape after a busy day shopping. If you're chasing rooftop views, The Peacock Restaurant offers incredible vistas paired with amazing fusion dishes.
VISIT: Dive into Jaipur’s Rich Heritage
Every corner of Jaipur tells a tale. When I’m not sourcing materials, I find inspiration visiting Amber Fort and marvelling at its intricate mirror work or miniature paintings. The grandeur of the City Palace, particularly the collection of royal costumes and textiles, feels like walking into a mood board for my designs. The Hawa Mahal with its honeycomb façade is perfect for soaking in Jaipur’s iconic architecture.
SHOPPING: A Textile Lover’s Paradise
If you love textiles, make your way to Bapu Bazaar - it is teeming with treasures from vintage saris, block printed clothing, to hand-stitched quilts. I often lose track of time here.
GETTING AROUND: Rickshaws
To me, Jaipur is best discovered on three wheels - yes, Rickshaws or tuk-tuks! There’s a magic to navigating its streets this way, with drivers sharing hidden gems and anecdotes about the Pink City. They’re more than just transport, they’re storytellers. Be warned, they do not have seatbelts so hold tight!
As the founder of Haveli Diaries, one of my greatest privileges is connecting with Jaipur’s artisans. Many studios are open to visitors, where you can witness block printers, potters and jewellers perfecting their crafts. Watching an artisan bring a piece to life is deeply inspiring.
Jaipur, for me, is not just a destination - it’s a muse, a collaborator and a second home. Whether you’re here to marvel at its grandeur or uncover its artistic soul, this city promises a tapestry of unforgettable experiences. So pack light, dive deep and get ready to weave your own Jaipur story.
