A Townhouse in Shepherds Bush
At Chloe Jonason Interiors, we love being part of projects that transform houses into homes and this stunning Victorian London townhouse was no exception. Our client embarked on a full house refurbishment, stripping the property down to its bare bones. We were delighted to assist with the soft furnishings, helping to bring warmth, colour and personality into the space and also recommended scalloped roman blinds with fun borders to elevate the spaces - it's the personal touches that matter.
Budget: A Smart & Thoughtful Approach
Our client wanted to spend wisely, ensuring that all choices were not only beautiful but also stood the test of time. By spreading the project over three years, she could invest in high-quality pieces at a comfortable pace, allowing for a layered and cohesive design to emerge organically.
Specification: A Love for Red & the Importance of Blackout
With red as a key inspiration, we carefully guided the client towards a selection of stunning fabrics, trims, and finishes to weave this rich, inviting hue into the interiors. From opulent curtains to tailored blinds, each piece was chosen to complement the home’s character.
A crucial factor in the design was blackout solutions. To ensure total darkness in the bedrooms, we provided blackout curtains and blinds, including Velux blinds for skylight areas. The combination created a restful retreat while maintaining an elegant aesthetic.
Challenges: Meeting Tight Timelines with Precision
While the overall project was spaced out over three years, the first stage required rapid execution. The client needed to move in as soon as possible, so we worked efficiently to have blackout curtains installed in time. Our team went above and beyond, pulling off a full day’s installation to ensure the house was ready for its new occupants. Their dedication meant the client could enjoy their new home immediately, without sacrificing any element of comfort or design.
Design: Thoughtful Design Choices
- Living Room & Bedrooms – The client wanted a cosy and luxurious feel, so we used lined and interlined curtains, allowing them to break generously on the floor for an elegant drape. We also advised on cohesive yet varied curtain poles, including black poles to add a contemporary look in the living rooms and wooden poles in the bedrooms to create warmth and a cosy feel. High-Traffic Areas – Here, we opted for curtains just touching the floor, ensuring a polished look without compromising durability and practicality.
- Kitchen & Modern Extension – In this well-insulated space, lightweight curtains provided privacy at night while maintaining a light, airy feel during the day.
Results: A Home Filled with Warmth & Joy
The final result? A cosy, colourful, and joyous home where soft furnishings truly made all the difference. The carefully selected fabrics, trims, and thoughtful layering of textures transformed the house into a warm, welcoming sanctuary
